Aamir Khan - Biography

Aamir Khan was born on 14th March, 1965 in Mumbai in a very conservative Muslim family that comes from Film industry. As a child he appeared in his Uncle's film, "Yaado ki baraat"(1973) where he just made a small screen appearance. Later he came as a child artiste in Madhoshi (1974) and Holi (1984). He had interest in Tennis so he became Maharashtra State Tennis Champion where he fell in love with Reena. Due to caste differences, they eloped and got married. He did Qayamat se Qayamat tak which was a huge hit and gave him stardom. The reason he became so famous was that it was a romantic musical film unlike the other violent movies being made at that time. After a few failures after that he acted in Dil in 1990. After that he has always given wonderful hits. His one failure was Mela that he regrets deeply. He filed for a divorce in December, 2002 and got married to girl-friend Kiran Rao in December, 2005.

Aamir Khan is a down-to-earth man who avoids media and award functions. He even turned down the offer to have his wax statue at the Tussads, much to the disappointment of his fans. Has been awarded Padma Bhushan in 2010.
